Organised since 2002, the Dainava Country Music Festival is the only professional music festival in Alytus that brings together classical music fans from all over Dzūkija. Every year, the international Dainava Country Music Festival invites you to discover Alytus residents who have become world stars and to enjoy a variety of classical music in different areas of the city.
The 22nd edition of the festival took place from 16-30 June and attracted more than 1,500 people to the concerts. This year's programme featured the Musica Humana ensemble with the Baltic solo choir and soloists, the traditional concert of the Alytus Music School Youth Symphony Orchestra Svajonė, an unusual sound meditation experience by the pianists of the Piano Phase Project, and the first appearance of the band Il Senso, with the Alytus-based Gintara Anankaite in the front. The Lithuanian Symphony Wind Orchestra's programme "Zappa Shake" was particularly memorable, and the festival was crowned by a packed Audiovisual Arts Centre, where the returning muse Diana Moisejenkaitė from Alytus performed with the chamber ensemble "Quattro patate".
All the concerts of the festival were accompanied by ovations from the audience, and the same faces could be seen among the audience. I am glad that Alytus residents like classical music more and more, and that's why the Dainava Country Music Festival is not saying goodbye and says: "See you next year".
