Formed in 2005 in cooperation with the Alytus Music School and the VO Alytus String Quartet. Since 2010 Svajone has been led by professional conductors. Symphony Orchestra 'Svajonė' has become an important part of Alytus culture. During its history, 'Svajone' has played in all the Baltic countries, as well as in Poland, Catalonia and the United Kingdom. It has been awarded the Alytus Municipality Culture Prize twice (2013 and 2023). In 2014, 'Svajonė' took part in a unique musical telethon with the Rochester (USA) Youth Symphony Orchestra. Since 2016, they have been collaborating with The American Virtuosi (USA). In 2019, they won 1st prize CUM LAUDE (1st prize with honours) at the Youth Orchestra Competition in Belgium. For its international achievements, the orchestra was awarded a Certificate of Appreciation by the President of Lithuania Gitanas Nausėda. On 13-18 April 2024, he took part in the Eurochestries Baltic Youth Orchestras Festival, which took place in three Baltic countries.
The orchestra is currently made up of 58 pupils aged 11-19 from Alytus Music School and 11 teachers.
The orchestra's repertoire includes classical, romantic, contemporary, popular, rock and film music. The repertoire always includes works by Lithuanian composers. The name of the orchestra was inspired by the work 'Svajonė' by Lithuanian composer Juozas Naujalis.
